A 17-year-old male was shot while walking down a street Saturday afternoon in Elsmere.

Elsmere Police Department were called to Alvil Road in Vilone Village, Elsmere, at around 1:40 p.m. on Saturday in response to a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to the lower extremities.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim was walking with a group of friends on Alvil Road when a gray sedan pulled up. The occupants of the car were all masked. One person, armed with a firearm, got out of the vehicle. Multiple gunshots were fired before the vehicle fled the scene, speeding down Alvil Road in the direction of New Road.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

Residents in the area are urged to check their surveillance cameras from that time to determine if they recorded either the shooting incident or the vehicle in which the suspect fled from the scene.
